
Russell Hits Two Homers In 6-4 Senior Day Win Over Penn State

The Terps’ catcher had an incredible Senior Day as Maryland closed out the 2026 season.
Less than 24 hours after delivering a walkoff home run in Maryland's 12-2 win on Friday night, Russell gave the Terps a 2-1 lead in the third inning with his eighth homer of the season and first of the day. The backstop turned on an 0-2 pitch and sent it out to left field to celebrate his Senior Day in style.
Logan Hastings got the Saturday start and collected a career-high 12 strikeouts over six innings while limiting Penn State to four runs on seven hits. Following Cristofer Cespedes' 12-strikeout performance on Friday night, Hastings gave the Terps their first back-to-back games with 10-plus strikeouts from a starting pitcher since 2022.SENIOR DAY SMASH!

Lance Williams threw the final three innings on the mound to close out Maryland's win. He collected five strikeouts and held PSU scoreless to drop the Nittany Lions to 16-25 (9-21 Big Ten) to close out the year.
