Lyle Wolf enters his first year at Maryland in 2025-26 and his 14thย overall as a part of head coach Buzz Williamsโ staff. Wolf has worked with Williams at Marquette, Virginia Tech, and Texas A&M before rejoining him in College Park.
โFew people would score higher than Coach Wolf on a Mensa test, but itโs his relentless work ethic and unwavering character that make him truly invaluable to our staff. Lyle started as a GA for us 13 years ago and has ascended through every role possible on his way to his current position,โ said Williams. โHe is an elite thinker on the court, especially on the offensive side of the ball. His ability to filter information quickly and land on the right answer gives him a real edge โ both in game situations and in practice.โย

He helped Texas A&M reach the NCAA Tournament in three consecutive seasons, while winning 20-plus games for four straight years. The four consecutive 20-win seasons was just the second time in program history to do so behind the 2004-11 squads that did so seven straight years. The three straight NCAA Tournament appearances also marked just the second time in Texas A&M history to do so as well.

Additionally, Wolf helped the Aggies reach the semifinals of the SEC Tournament three times including a pair of trips to the Championship game.

Wolf joined Williams at Texas A&M after a five-year stint at Virginia Tech. He was promoted to director of basketball operations in 2018-19 when the Hokies posted a 26-9 record and made to a run to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. Previously, Wolf served as the assistant to the head coach and director of student-athlete development.Wolf contributed to the programโs turnaround as Virginia Tech made four postseason appearances including three straight trips to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in program history.

Wolf began his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant on Williamsโ staff at Marquette. He assisted in the day-to-day operations of the program and supervised the teamโs managerial staff before obtaining a masterโs degree in sports leadership in the spring of 2014.

A native of Lexington, Kentucky, Wolf earned a bachelorโs degree in business administration from Transylvania (Ky.) University in 2010. He was a member of the Transylvania basketball team in 2006-07.

Wolf earned his Doctorate of Education in global sports leadership from East Tennessee State in March 2018.

Wolf and his wife, Perren, have a son, Bauer.
