Three Maryland Softball Players Earn All-ACC Honors

Maryland sophomore pitcher/shortstop Kelly Shipman, Co-MVP of the 1997 Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament, was named First Team All-ACC on Friday, her second consecutive year to receive the honor. Shipman was joined on the First Team by sophomore third baseman Tricia Hunt and freshman designated hitter/pitcher Cortney Madea.

The Terps earned a share of the 1997 ACC softball championship with Florida State, and became the quickest team in any ACC sport to earn a share of the league championship. The Maryland softball team has only been competing for three years as an NCAA Division I sport.
