Maryland's Hunt and Shipman Earn ACC Players of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. - Yellow Jacket catcher Anne Knobbe is named Acc Player of the Week for the second consecutive week Georgia Tech went 5-2. The freshman from Brea, Calif., batted .500 (11-of-22) with three runs and nine RBI. Knobbe hit three doubles and one home run. She also threw out three runners trying to steal, and had 16 putouts and three assists for the week.

Knobbe shares the weekly honors with Maryland's Annette Hunt. The Terrapin senior from Germantown, Md. batted .542 (12-of-23) with six runs and five RBI. She contributed one double and two triples, and was 2-of-2 in stolen bases as Maryland went 5-1 for the week.

For the second week in a row, Maryland's Kelly Shipman garners ACC Pitcher of the Week honors. The senior from Huntingtown, Md., went 3-1 for the week, pitching three complete games and two shutouts. In 24.2 innings pitched, Shipman allowed eleven hits and three runs (no earned runs) and fanned 43 batters. Shipman also leads the team in hitting with a .407 average.
