Maryland Track and Field Athletes Sweep First Weekly Honors of Season

COLLEGE PARK, Md.- The University of Maryland's Greg Hunger and Heather Atkinson swept the weekly Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Week honors for indoor track after their performances this past weekend at the Father Diamond Memorial in Fairfax, VA.

Hunger, a senior from Bowie, MD, qualified for IC4AAs in the mile run, finishing fourth with a time of 4:15.65. Atkinson, last yearAs indoor ACC champion in the 20-pound weight throw, claimed the individual titles in both the shot put and 20-pound weight throw at the weekend's meet. The Terrapin senior, a native of Urbana, IL, claimed the shot put title with a throw of 41'05.75", while taking the weight throw title with a toss of 48'11.50".
