Mar. 21, 1997 Maryland's Dolbin Named Outstanding Rookie GymnastMaryland's record-setting freshman Rachel Dolbin was named Outstanding Rookie Gymnast of the East Atlantic Gymnastics League for the 1997 season. She was not the league's most highly-touted freshman at the beginning of the year, Dolbin spent the season as the Terrapins' most consistent gymnast, while rewriting the school record books. She became the first Maryland gymnast to ever eclipse the 39 mark in the all-around when she tallied a 39.25 in the Terrapins' final home meet against Radford. Her performance helped push Maryland to a school record 193.8 as it remains in the running for a NCAA Southeast Regional bid.
