Seven Players Named To Field Hockey Academic Squad

Terps place second highest number of players on squad

College Park, MD- Seniors Christine DeBow (West Chester, Pa.), Alana Eliwatt (East Brunswick, NJ) and Carolyn Scharz (Gaithersberg, Md.), junior Ellen Wolf (Wyomissing. Pa.) and redshirt freshman Zoe Ehrlich (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) have been named to the 1997 National Field Hockey Coaches Association Academic Squad. In order to qualify for the squad, a player must have at least a 3.3 cumulative grade point average and have earned playing time during the season.

With seven players named to the squad, the Terps tied Stanford for the second-highest total among all NCAA Division I field hockey programs. Only Ball State, with 12 players, had a higher total than Maryland. The Terps concluded their 1997 season with a record of 18-4.
