Dec. 3, 1997 Pratt Ends Field Hockey Season With Most Assists in the NCAA
College Park, Md.--Junior midfielder Jen Pratt (Greene, N.Y.) finished the 1997 field hockey season ranked first in assists with 33. She led the nation in assists throughout the season and ended up with two more assists than runner-up Jakolien van Eijk of Kent State. Pratt is a two-time All-America selection. After being named to the third team last season, she earned second-team honors this year. Senior forward Lynsey McVicker (Balleymoney, Northern Ireland), finished the season ranked 15th in points per game (2.68), tied for 12th in total points (59) and seventh in assists (23). Senior forward Nadine Bennett (Chegutu, Zimbabwe) completed the season tied for 12th in goals (24) and tied for 17th in points per game (2.45). Senior goalie Alana Eliwatt (East Brunswick, N.J.) ended the season ranked fourth in goals against average (1.108). Maryland finished the season with record of 18-4.
