Dominant Performance By Wyche Keys Maryland’s Doubleheader Sweep Over Iowa, 2-0

IOWA CITY, IA – The Terps blanked Iowa in game two of Friday's doubleheader, 2-0. With the victory, Maryland improved to 29-12 (6-7 BIG) while Iowa moved to 26-17 (7-6 BIG). At 29 wins, the team equaled last season's win total, the most program wins since Maryland joined the Big Ten in 2014. 

Courtney Wyche pitched a masterclass in the circle, striking out six and only surrendering two hits in a complete seven innings. This was Wyche's seventh complete game of the season and the 29th of her career. 

With the game scoreless going into the fourth inning, Jaeda McFarland came up big for the Terps with an RBI triple. Kiley Goff led the way on offense, going 2-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Megan Mikami and Trinity Schlotterbeck recorded Maryland's other hits in the game.

  • McFarland smashed an RBI triple down the right field line, putting the Terps on the board in the fourth. McFarland's hit drove in Goff from first base. 
  • Goff added another run for Maryland in the fifth, singling to score Kamryn Davis.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, Wyche struck out three straight Hawkeye batters.
