
No. 23 Terps Finish 4-0 Weekend in ACC/Big Ten Challenge with 4-3 Win Over UNC

CHAPEL HILL, NC – No. 23 Maryland beat North Carolina, 4-3, to earn a sweep in this weekend's ACC/Big Ten Challenge with a perfect 4-0 record. A nail biter to the end, clutch late-game offense keyed the Terps' ultimate victory. At 8-1, Maryland continues their best start since beginning the 2012 season with a 9-1 record. North Carolina is now 4-4.
It was a pitcher's duel for much of the afternoon, with Maryland's Courtney Wyche tallying five strikeouts across 5.1 innings. Keira Bucher came in for another strong appearance at reliever, posting her sixth save of the season, recording the final five outs. Sammi Woods made an impressive leaping catch to secure the last out of the game.
Down 3-1 in the fifth, big RBIs by Jaeda McFarland, Makense Greico, and Michaela Jones gave the Terps the lead they needed. Greico, Jones, McFarland and Kiley Goff all had two hits in the win.
