CHAMPAIGN, IL -- No. 21 Maryland suffered a 19-1 loss to Illinois, the first-place team in the Big Ten, on Friday night at Memorial Stadium. The defeat dropped the Terps to 30-8 overall and 7-3 in the conference. Illinois is now 20-15 overall and 11-2 in the Big Ten.

Matt Shaw and Luke Shliger had the Terps' two hits.

Breaking Down The Action

Illinois jumped out to a 4-0 lead keyed by a three-run home run by Kellen Sarver in the bottom of the third inning.
Maryland got on the board as Troy Schreffler Jr.'s foul sacrifice fly scored Nick Lorusso to make it 4-1.
The Fighting Illini added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 6-1.
Illinois added 10 more in the later innings to break the game open.
