SPRINGFIELD, MASS – Senior Oluchi Okananwa of the 20th-ranked Maryland women's basketball team is one of 20 candidates named to the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award Watch List Tuesday. The award is given to the top shooting guard in the country.
Okananwa was named to the All-Big Ten Preseason Team earlier this month.
Okananwa was on the All-Big Ten First Team last season. She earned AP and WBCA All-America honorable mention honors as well. She started in all 33 games for Maryland, leading the Terps in scoring with 17.8 points per game and 74 steals. She also averaged 5.4 rebounds and 52 percent from the field. Okananwa scored in double figures in 28 of 33 games and 20 or more points in 14 games.

Maryland will officially open the 2026-27 season on Monday, Nov. 2 in the Oui-Play event at the Adidas Arena in Paris. The 20th-ranked Terrapins will take on No. 1 South Carolina at 12 p.m. ET on ESPN.
