
Terps Round Out Bevo Classic With Loss To UMass

AUSTIN, TX – Maryland softball rounded out its weekend in the Bevo Classic with a 10-1 loss to Massachusetts at Red and Charline McCombs Field on Sunday afternoon. The Terps went 1-4 on the weekend and currently sit a 4-6 overall on the season.
Massachusetts (4-6) scored seven of its 10 runs in the third inning, leading them to victory in the second meeting between the two teams. Maryland won the first meeting, 4-0, on Feb. 14 to open its tournament play.
UMass' Julianne Bolton pitched a perfect game through 3.2 innings. Matti Benson broke it up with a triple to right field in the fourth. Sam Bean, Sammi Woods and Bailey Murphy added singles in the fifth. Murphy's hit was an RBI single that put the Terps on the board.
Genevieve Ebaugh made her first appearance of the season in the circle. She pitched 2.1 innings, striking out three batters and allowing three hits. Aubrey Wurst and Bri Godfrey each made relief appearances. Godfrey struck out two batters.
