TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Julie Fricke represented the University of Maryland on Monday by competing in the NCAA Cross Country National Championships hosted by Indiana State University.

Fricke, a junior from Newtown, Pa., finished 150th individually in the field of 254. She covered the 6-kilometer national championship course in 21:24.0. Sheila Reid from Villanova won the event with a time of 19:41.2.

Fricke is the first Terrapin woman to run in the cross country nationals since Rosalind Taylor in 1988.

It marked the fourth straight year a Maryland cross country student-athlete qualified for nationals. The Terps had runners in the men's nationals in each of the last three seasons.
