2007 CROSS COUNTRY: Participated in four of Maryland's six events... Best finish was an 18th at the George Mason Invitational, covering 6K in 23:27.4 and placing fourth among her team... Also fourth among Terrapin finishers at the ACC Championships at Virginia, where she was 63rd overall (23:34.6)... Best 6K time of the season (22:25) came with a 39th-place finish overall and seventh on the team as the Terps won the team title at the Leopard Invitational at Lafayette.
2007 OUTDOOR TRACK: Had the Terps' top time in the 1,500 meters at the Georgia Tech Invitational, where she placed 20th with a time of 4:44.20... placed 14th at the Onesty/Abramson Invitational with a time of 4:49.38... finished ninth in the 800 meters at the Patriot Open, posting a time of 2:17.66... ran a 2:22.72 at the Maryland Invitational and placed 18th... was a member of Maryland's ECAC-qualifying 4x800 relay team that placed 14th at the Penn Relays.
2007 INDOOR TRACK: Did not compete.
2006 CROSS COUNTRY: In just her second collegiate race, placed 25th overall out of 316 runners at the Spiked Shoe Invitational with a time of 22:37.1, fourth best on the team... finished 58th overall and fourth on the team at the ACC Championship with a time of 23:23.5... placed fourth among Terrapins at the Great Meadows Invitational and the ECAC Championships.
BEFORE MARYLAND: Member of the national champion and record-breaking distance medley team at the Penn Relays... first-team all-state in cross country, indoor, and outdoor track... cross country county champion... Arcadia Invitational champion in the 4 x mile... also lettered twice in soccer ... member of the Spanish Honor Society... high school coach was Geoff Harrison... Has a 2:15 mark in the 800 and a 4:54 mile... came to Maryland to be part of "an up and coming program with very talented young runners."
PERSONAL: Daughter of Angela and James Nelson ... has two older sisters and a younger sister ... lists favorite athlete as Steve Prefontaine... will major in kinesiology.
