COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland was well represented on the 2009 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All Academic Awards with eight Terps receiving the honor.

The program honors varsity and club student-athletes who have achieved grade-point averages of 3.20 or higher and competed during the 2009 season.

Overall, 58 athletes were honored with Outstanding (3.71-4.0) recognition, while 117 earned Superior (3.70-3.41) and 115 were recognized with Excellent (3.20-.40) awards.

Maryland's Elina Goldenberg, Laurel Laidlaw, Shannon Simerly and Christen Vagts earned Outstanding recognition.

Carly Hoshko and Blaise Stanicic earned Superior recognition, while Christine Goetsch and Ashleigh Jobson earned an Excellent nod.

Chapman University topped the team grade-point average (3.42), followed by Washington and & Jefferson College (3.36), Brown University (3.35), Colorado College (3.31), Macalester (3.28), Redlands (3.21) and Hartwick University (3.20).
