BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Maryland women's water polo team was unable to get its offense on track and fell to 18th-ranked Indiana, 9-4, Sunday in the third-place game of the Elite Eight Tournament.

The Hoosiers scored three times in each of the first three periods and were never seriously threatened by the Terrapins (8-5), who got single goals from Allison Campbell, Alex Gurnee, Allie Hill and Meghan Powers.

Maryland was unable to get much past Indiana's Katie Carson, who posted a season-high 15 saves.

Kara Butler, Jakie Köhli, and Kelly Palmberg, led the scoring for the Hoosiers (8-6) with two goals apiece.

Rachel Stein posted a career-high eight blocks for the Terps.

Eighth-ranked Michigan captured the Elite Eight title with an 11-8 win over 11th-ranked Hartwick, which knocked off the Terps in Saturday's semifinal round.

Maryland is back in action next weekend when it travels to San Diego for the Aztec Invitational with three ranked teams on the schedule.

The Terps will play UC San Diego and ninth-ranked Loyola Marymount on Saturday before facing off against No. 14 San Diego State and fourth-ranked California the following day.
