Commitment to Excellence
The University of Maryland athletics department continued in 2010-11 to show its excellence across its vast array of varsity teams.
Highlighted by a national championship in field hockey, the Terrapins were again one of the nation’s most versatile and broad-based programs.
Maryland teams won five tournament championships in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Field hockey, men's soccer, wrestling, men's lacrosse and women’s lacrosse earned championships in ACC postseason play.
Nineteen teams earned trips to postseason competition, once again showing Maryland’s excellence in a variety of sports.
Based on its finishes in NCAA national championships, Maryland finished in the top 16 in the nation among Division I institutions in the Learfield Sports Directors Cup sponsored by NACDA.
