Volleyball Finishes Season Wednesday at Boston College

Nov. 25, 2008

  • Watch on ACC Select

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland volleyball team closes out the 2008 season at 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon at Boston College. The match will be broadcast online via ACC Select.

The Terrapins (6-25, 2-17 ACC) opened conference play September 23 with a 3-1 victory against the Eagles (7-24, 1-18 ACC).

The match will represent the final appearances of seniors Mary Beth Brown, Maggie Schmelzle, Tedi Doucet, Meredith Doyle and Kathleen Wilson in a Maryland uniform.

Schmelzle's Terrapin finale should be a memorable one, as the Cincinnati native needs only one dig to pass former high school and college teammate Beth Gillming for second place in program history. With 18 digs, Schmelzle will reach 1,600 in her career.

Junior Katie Usher is also on the verge of moving up in the record book. With exactly 400 career blocks, Usher needs only one more to move into sole possession of fourth place in school history.

The Terps are 5-3 all-time against the Eagles and are looking for their first season sweep since 2005.
