Maryland Volleyball Handles Georgetown, 3-0, For Third-Straight Win

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The hard-hitting combination of seniors Maria DiLivio and Sarah Treadwell proved to be a winning one for the Terrapin volleyball team, as it defeated Georgetown, 3-0 (30-16, 30-23, 30-23) Saturday afternoon at Comcast Center Pavilion. DiLivio and Treadwell led the way for the Terps offensively, as they tallied 14 and 13 kills, respectively. In Saturday's second match of the Maryland Invitational, Northern Arizona swept Butler, 30-26, 30-21, 30-18.
With the win, the Terrapins improved to 4-5 and have now won three-straight matches and nine-straight games. Georgetown fell to 6-3.
DiLivio recorded the match's only double-double as she had 10 digs along with her 14 kills and season-high four blocks. Treadwell hit a team-high .524, tallying 13 kills and just two errors on 21 swings. Treadwell also posted nine digs and a block.
Maryland limited Georgetown to a .062 attack percentage, while the Terps hit .296 for the match and committed 18 attack errors to the Hoyas' 24. The Terrapins also found their block as they edged the Hoyas in that category, 13 to 6.
Rachel Moore had another standout performance at libero, notching 10 digs, while Rachel Wagener dominated at the net and posted a match-high eight blocks. Wagener also had eight kills and two aces. Stephanie Smith recorded seven kills and two blocks.
Senior setter Aimee Huddleston dished out 43 assists to go along with two kills and two blocks.
Freshman Charese Baldwin recorded her first career kills in the match vs. the Hoyas, as she slammed two, including the match-winner.
In the 1 p.m. match between Northern Arizona and Butler, Lumberjacks dominated the Bulldogs 30-26, 30-21, 30-18. The Bulldogs were able to hit just .014 and Northern Arizona capitalized on Ellie Butterfield's 17 kills and 15 digs for the victory.
Leading Butler was Kali Carter with nine kills and 11 digs.
The Terps are back in action at the Maryland Invitational on Saturday, as the round-robin tournament wraps up with a 5:30 p.m. match between Georgetown and Arizona, followed by a 7:30 p.m. match between Maryland and Butler.
