Academic Support and Career Services
The Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is committed to providing student-athletes opportunities to participate in intercollegiate athletic programs of the highest quality, with the expectation that their athletic participation will become an integral and valued component of their total educational experience.
Therefore, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the ASCDU are committed to providing student-athlete support services to assist student-athletes in meeting these unique challenges.
The Academic Services and Career Development Unit (ASCDU) provides these services to Maryland student-athletes. The ASCDU has 16 full-time staff members, who are located in both the Comcast Center and the Gossett Football Team House.
The Gossett Academic Support and Career Development Center located in the Comcast Center is named for long-time Maryland supporters Barry and Mary Gossett. It features a study center that includes 25 desktop computers, a tutorial center, a classroom, a TERRAPIN Student Welfare & Career Development resource room, staff offices, an Academic Enrichment Program lab, and a Writing Resource Lab.
