State this weekendTERPS OPEN ACC PLAY: Maryland, ranked No. 20 in this week's AVCA Coaches poll, open the 1997 ACC season when it travels to North Carolina this weekend for a Saturday match against the Tar Heels and a Sunday match against N.C. State. WEEKEND RECAP: Maryland captured the 1997 Ramada New Carrollton Invitational this past weekend, defeating Kansas State (3-1), South Carolina (3-1) and George Mason (3-0). Senior setter Eden Kroeger was named MVP of the Invitational and Elizabeth Efron and Katie Jentes were named to the all-tournament team. CAN YOU DIG IT: Led by senior setter Eden Kroeger, the Terrapins are ranked No. 3 in the country in digs, and rank first in the Atlantic Coast Conference. As a team, the Terps average 19.64 digs per game. Kroeger heads the ACC individual digs leaderboard with a 3.93 per game average. SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: North Carolina: The Tar Heels own a 6-5 overall record, and are 5th in the ACC standings...play Florida State on Friday before meeting Maryland...leading hitter is Tori Seibert (.320). N.C. State: The Wolfpack are 5-9 overall, 8th in the ACC standings...have won five straight matches...leading hitter is Nicole Peterson (.301). COUNTDOWN: Senior setter Eden Kroeger (Englewood, Colo.) is 61 assists shy of breaking the Maryland all-time assist record. She currently has recorded 4,212 assists during her career. A LOOK AT THE LINEUP: Kim Adolphs, Jr., OH, Runcorn, Australia: Hitting .204...hit a career-high .400
against Kent at the Gazette Times Classic...followed that performance when she hit .382
against Oregon State...totaled 17 kills against Kent which is also a career-best...is
second on the team in digs with 103...totaled 17 digs against then-14th-ranked Ohio
State which is a season-high...her 3.68 digs per game ranks her second in the ACC behind
teammate Eden Kroeger...has totaled seven service aces. Elizabeth Efron, Sr., RS, Buenos Aires, Argentina: Is hitting a team-high .305 which
ranks her 10th in the ACC...hit .615 versus Oregon State at the Gazette Times Classic at
Oregon State...hit .333 against 14th-ranked Ohio State, totaling 20 kills on 48
swings...named to the all-tournament team at the Gazette Times Classic...also had 11
