Terps Return to Action at ITA Regional Indoor Championships

Oct. 23, 2008

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team will send six players to the ITA Regional Indoor Championship beginning 8 a.m. Friday.

Michal Amir, Eleanor Peters and Karin Lundmark lead the Terrapins in the singles draw, looking to build on their success at the Maryland Invitational. Lisa Miller and Jordan Hansbrough are seeking to qualify for the singles tournament and Oksana Krutiyenko is listed as an alternate for the Terps.

Doubles play features the tandem of Amir and Miller, who played together for 17 matches last season. Peters and Hansbrough look to qualify for the doubles tournament while Lundmark and Krutiyenko will be the Terrapins alternate doubles team.

Nearly 200 players from 60 schools gather in Philadelphia for the five-day event. Finalists in the singles tournament and the doubles tournament champion will earn invitations to the ITA National Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Va. (Nov. 6-9).

The tournament is the Terps second competition of the fall season. They played host to the Maryland Invitational in September.
