Maryland Wins Four in Doubles Play

Nov. 8, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, Nc. - Eleanor Peters and Jordan Hansbrough teamed up for two doubles wins Saturday as the Terps cruised through doubles competition. Maryland picked up four doubles victories against opponents from both Winthrop and University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

In their first match, Peters and Hansbrough topped Winthrop's Lisa Wilkinson and Sandra Herrera, 8-2. Their second win of the day came against Valerie Behr and Lucy Dougherty of UNC-Greensboro, 8-6.

Also recording wins in doubles play was Michal Amir and Lisa Miller who defeated Winthrop opponents Elizaveta Zaytseva and Patricia Coimbra, 8-3. The final doubles victory came from Lauren Wolman and Karin Lundmark, defeating UNC-Greensboro's Courtney Akel and Jessica Eblen, 8-6.

Singles play did not find the same success for the Terps. Maryland faced ACC rival North Carolina for six singles matches, dropping all six.

The Terrapins close out the fall season Sunday in the final day of the Kitty Harrison Invitational.
