Terps Find Mixed Success at ITA Regionals

BLACKSBURG, Va - The doubles tandem of Sarah Gealer and Vroni Van Berlo dropped their third round match, as the Maryland women's tennis team finished up play Monday at the ITA Atlantic Regional Tournament at Virginia Tech.
Gealer and Van Berlo continued to show improvement as a doubles team, competing well in the 64 team draw.
After a first round bye, Gealer and Van Berlo defeated Kahoun and Martinez-Marcos of Virginia Tech 8-5 in their second round contest. The duo was subsequently lost to the No. 1 seeded team of Januskova and Utting from Penn State, 8-3, in the round of 16.
Gealer and Van Berlo also competed in singles action. Gealer dropped her first round match to Leeza Nemchinov of William and Mary 6-4, 6-2, while Sali Kvitashvili of VCU defeated Van Berlo 6-2, 6-1 in the opening round.
The team continues its fall season at the Kitty Harrison Invitational. Play begins from Chapel Hill, N.C on Friday, Nov. 9.
