Terps Lose to No. 11 Miami, 6-1, in Last Home Match of Season
April 6, 2008 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland women's tennis team lost to No. 11 Miami (12-5, 5-2), 6-1, Sunday in its last home match of the season. The Terps (3-15, 0-9) won one doubles match and pushed two singles matches into tiebreakers. Sophomore Maggie MacKeever won her first set over No. 53 Michaela Kissell, 6-4, lost the second 6-0, and then claimed the win in the third set tiebreaker, 11-9, at the No. 3 position. At the No. 5 singles position, freshman Oksana Krutiyenko fought hard before falling to Caren Seenauth, 7-5, 4-6, 10-5. In doubles, junior Michal Amir and sophomore Lisa Miller won their match over Miami's Laura Vallverdu and Romy Farah, the No. 15 doubles team nationally, 8-6, at the No. 1 position. Sophomore Maggie MacKeever and freshman Karin Lundmark lost their doubles match to Seenauth and Bianca Eichkorn, 8-5, while freshmen Julia Huschke and Oksana Krutiyenko dropped their match to Jenna Osborne and Michaela Kissell, 8-5. The Terrapins will head south next weekend to face No. 23 Clemson Saturday at 11 a.m. and No. 2 Georgia Tech Sunday. Miami 6, Maryland 1 Singles
