Terrapins Lose to Boston College, 4-3

CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The Maryland women's tennis team lost to fellow Atlantic Coast Conference member, Boston College, 4-3, in Chestnut Hill, Mass., Tuesday afternoon. The Terrapins dropped to 0-3 in conference play and 3-9 on the season, while the Eagles improved to 1-2 in ACC play and 9-3 on the year. The Terps were led by sophomore Lisa Miller, who won both her singles and doubles matches. In singles, she defeated Alison Wagner, 6-4, 6-1, at the No. 5 position. In doubles, Miller and junior Michal Amir beat Lauren Cash and Dasha Cherkasov, 8-4, at the No. 1 doubles spot. Freshmen Karin Lundmark and Oksana Krutiyenko also won their singles matches for the Terps. At the No. 2 singles slot, Lundmark won a close match over Cherkasov, 7-5, 7-5. Krutiyenko beat Alina Sullivan, 6-3, 6-4, at the No. 6 position. At the No. 1 spot, Amir lost to Lana Krasnopolsky, 7-6, 6-1, while sophomore Maggie MacKeever also lost to Cash, 6-2, 6-2. Freshman Julia Huschke forced her No. 4 match against Katharine Attwell in to a third set, where she lost, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2. Huschke and MacKeever lost in doubles, 8-5, to Sullivan and Attwell, while Lundmark and Krutiyenko lost to Gia Nafarette and Krasnopolsky, 8-1. The Terrapins will play host to Wake Forest Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park. Boston College 4, Maryland 3
