No. 13 UNC Blanks Terps Women's Tennis, 7-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The Maryland women's tennis team fell to North Carolina, 7-0, Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Terrapins dropped to 3-7 on the season and 0-2 in conference play. The Tar Heels, ranked 13th nationally, improved to 6-4 on the season and claimed their first ACC victory.
Junior captain Michal Amir, currently ranked No. 102 in the nation, dropped her match to Katrina Tsang, 6-2, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles spot. Tsang is ranked No. 26 in the latest poll. At the No. 2 singles spot, freshman Karin Lundmark fell to Sanaz Marand, 6-0, 6-4, who is ranked 10th in the country.
Sophomore Maggie MacKeever lost to No. 100 Austin Smith at the No. 3 singles slot, 6-2, 6-1. Freshman Julia Huschke dropped her match to Meg Fanjoy, 7-5, 6-1, at the No. 4 singles spot, while sophomore Lisa Miller fell to Alexandra Jurewitz, 6-0, 7-6 (2), at the No. 5 position.
Making her first appearance of the spring season in conference play, freshman Adela Matejkova lost to Linzee Mabrey, def., at the No. 6 slot.
In doubles play, Amir and Miller fell to Marand and Tsang, 8-1. MacKeever and Huschke lost to Smith and Fanjoy, 8-1, while Lundmark and Matejkova fell to Jurewitz and Laura Reichert, def.
The Terps will play host to Indiana next Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Tennis Center at College Park.
