COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland women's swimming and diving team earned three victories today in a relay meet with Johns Hopkins, Howard and Wingate at the Campus Recreation Center Natatorium, while the men's squad came away with their first two victories of the season against Johns Hopkins and Howard. The women topped Johns Hopkins 105-36, Howard 111-23 and Wingate 109-36. The men's team also won impressively, downing Johns Hopkins 113-40 and Howard 119-31.

The two victories for the men improve the Terps to 2-3 overall while the women's team now stands at an unbeaten 6-0 to open the season.

The meet was made up mostly of relay events, but the Terps swept the individual events and had six different swimmers and divers with victories.

For the women, junior Linneah Riedlinger (Greenbelt, Md.) won the 500-yard freestyle (5:06.18), freshman Inbal Levavi (Ichad, Israel) won the 400-yard IM (4:30.32) and newcomer junior diver Kristin Roth (Ashton, Md.) came away with a victory on the 1-meter board with a score of 151.57.

The women also won five out of the six relay events at the meet en route to the three victories.

On the men's side, sophomore Chris Brandenberger (Stonybrook, N.Y.) captured a victory in the 400-yard IM (4:15.84), sophomore Dan Fallon (Elkton, Md.) won the 500-yard freestyle (4:43.89) and junior diver Steven Vigilante won the 1-meter board competition with a score of 268.57.

The men swept the relay events, coming in first in all six.

The Terrapin women will face Wingate again tomorrow in a double dual meet with the University of Richmond. That meet is scheduled to start at noon in the Campus Recreation Center Natatorium in College Park.
