Women's Swimming Completes Day Two At NCAA Championships
March 21, 2003 AUBURN, Al. - Senior Shandra Johnson, despite battling the flu all week, finished fourth in the 200-yard freestyle at the NCAA Championships in Auburn, Al. The Terps are in 21st place after 14 events. Johnson, after finishing third in the preliminary round with a time of 1:45.91, finished fourth in the finals with a time of 1:46.17. The fourth-place finish was the Terps' best individual performance of the day. In other events, freshman Inbal Levavi (Ichud, Israel) finished 31st in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:21.70, Elizabeth Lavell (Annapolis, Md.) finished 49th in the 200-yard freestyle (1:50.51), Krisztina Kovacs (Bucharest, Hungary) was 27th in the 100-breast (1:03.25) and Megan Knepper (Williamsport, Md.) finished 27th in the 100-back (55.37). Jill Martin scored points for the Terrapins with a 15th-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.72).
The final day of competition begins tomorrow at 11 a.m.
