As a Sophomore (2010-11): Tallied fourth best mark on the team in the 500 free (5:00.70), third in the 100 back (55.60) and second in the 200 back (1:59.67)...took 34th in the 500 free (5:01.97) at the ACC Championships...16th in the 100 back (56.10) and 22nd in the 200 back (2:00.26)...second in the 200 back and eighth in the 400 IM at the Terp Cup.

As a Freshman (2009-10): Tallied second best time on the team in the 400 IM (4:27.67) and the fourth in the 200 back (2:02.15)...finished 24th in the 200 back (2:04.04) at the ACC Championships...notched a fifth place finish in the 200 back (2:03.89) at the 2009 Terrapin Cup...also took 14th in the 400 IM and 15th in the 100 back...set personal best in the 100 back (57.33).

Before Maryland: Swam for four seasons at Rye High School under coach Shannon Bolger...Section 1 champion in the 100 back as a sophomore...New York state finalist as a junior and as a senior...Team MVP and High Point Award winner all four seasons at Rye...team captain as a senior...tabbed all-league, all-section and all-state in 2005, 2007 and 2008...also swam for Badger Swim Club where she was a Junior National, Summer National, Short Course National and US Open qualifier...also placed seventh at Junior Nationals in the 200 back in 2007.

Personal: Daughter of John and Lisa Hughes...has two brothers, Michael and Kevin...Michael is a swimmer at Boston College and Kevin swims for Badger Swim Club...National Honor Society member, Scholastic All-American and earned Rye Scholars Award...logged over 75 hours of volunteer service tutoring children, working swim meets and volunteering at homeless shelters...major is Journalism.
