On Corwin: Coming off an excellent junior year ... will be a tremendous contributor in the 100, 200 and 500 freestyle.
As a Junior (2002-03): Performed well in the middle distance events all year ... highest finish at the ACC Championships was 16th in the 200-free (1:54.59) ... in the season-opener versus NC State, had a second-place finish in the 200-free (1:53.66) and a third-place finish in the 500-free (5:06.71) ... part of the 800-yard freestyle relay team that broke the school record at the Terrapin Cup Invitational with a time of 7:27.44 ... also won with the 400-free relay team at that meet (3:25.46) ... had an individual victory against Duke, winning the 200-free (1:53.37) ... finished second in the 200-free (1:52.69) and third in the 500-free (5:00.27) against Pittsburgh ... captured third-place honors in the 200-free (1:52.59) and finished second in the 500-free (5:02.82) in a win over Villanova.
As a Sophomore (2001-2002): Best individual finish of the season was fifth place in the 200-free vs. Virginia (1:54.76) ... came away with two eighth place finished in the 200-free afainst NC State (1:59.19) and at the Terrapin Cup Invitational (1:56.70) ... member of the 450-free screscendo relay team that placed second vs. Johns Hopkins and Howard (4:10.08).
As a Freshman (2000-01): Participated in her first collegiate meet at Virginia Tech ... turned in a sixth-place finish in the 200-free against the Hokies (1:56.89) ... sixth in the 200-free (1:56.20) and the 50-free (54.83) at home vs. Howard and Villanova ... fifth-place finisher in the 200-free (1:56.86) vs. ACC-foe NC State ... also part of the second-place 400-free relay team (3:34.55) against the Wolfpack ... on the 400-medley relay team (4:01.73) that took second-place honors at UMBC ... also placed second vs. the Retrievers in the 200-free (1:57.67) ... came in third in the 200-free (1:55.03) against Pittsburgh ... third in the 200-free (1:58.68) at Duke.
Before Maryland: Four-year standout at Miramonte High School ... four-time high school All-American in the relay events and a two-time All-America selection in the 100- and 200-free ... holds the school record in the 100 free, 200 free and 50 free ... won a conference championship three times at Miramonte.
Personal: Born May 1, 1982 ... daughter of Cindy and Jan Corwin ... a letters and sciences major ... was recruited by such schools as California, Miami, UNLV and UC Santa Barbara ... chose to attend Maryland due to the coaches and the team. |
