Radford, Potzman Named To 2000 All-ACC Softball Team
May 8, 2000 COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland sophomore Beth Radford (Dunkirk, Md.) and junior Jennifer Potzman (Trexlertown, Pa.) were named to the 2000 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Team, announced May 8.
Radford, Maryland's catcher, is a first-time selection after leading the Terrapins in seven offensive categories for most of the 2000 season. The sophomore finished the year with a team-high .303 batting average, 50 hits, eight home runs, 35 RBI, 79 total bases, a .479 slugging percentage and two sacrifice flies. Her 35 runs batted in were the fourth-best single-season effort in school history. Radford was also second on the team with 27 runs, and third among starters with a .969 fielding percentage.
Shortstop Potzman was named to the All-ACC team for the second time in her career. The junior led the Terps in runs with 33 and walks with 27. The 33 runs ties Potzman for the sixth-best single-season performance in Terp history. Potzman ranked second on the team with a .390 on-base percentage, and third with 21 RBI. The junior also finished the season third among the batting leaders with a .270 average.
The conference honors garnered by Radford and Potzman are the ninth and 10th All-ACC selections in Maryland softball's six-year history.
