Stewart, Belak Earn All-ACC Softball Honors

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Senior Sarde Stewart was named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference first team Wednesday night, while fellow senior Jenny Belak was named to the second team. It the second year in a row a Terp has made the first team, with Stewart's sister Amber Jackson making All-ACC in 2007. Stewart leads the Terps this year with a .345 batting average, 10 home runs and 47 RBIs. Her 47 RBIs are tied for second-most in a single season at Maryland. The Fontana, Calif. native's 10 home runs are third-most in a single season. Belak has broken four school career records in 2008 including hits with 217, stolen bases with 59, triples with 12 and at-bats with 748. Her .328 average ranks second on the Terps this season. The Sierra Madre, Calif. native has 65 hits this season, tied for fourth-most in a single season at Maryland. Her 37 runs scored ranks sixth-most in a single season. The Terps look to upset second-seeded Virginia Tech at 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the first round of the ACC Softball Championship at Robert E Taylor Stadium. 2008 ACC Softball Awards:
