Softball Eliminates Georgia Tech from ACC Tournament

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Maryland Terrapins outhit Georgia Tech 10-2 on their way to a 4-0 win in Game 5 of the 1998 Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Tournament being played at Lady Seminole Field. Maryland improves to 25-20 and advances to the 7 p.m. contest with North Carolina. With the loss, Georgia Tech, now 23-32, is eliminated from tourney play.

Maryland scored runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings but all runs were unearned as Georgia Tech committed three errors in the contest. Terrapin leadoff hitter Kelly Shipman, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, doubled and scored on a Georgia Tech error in the first inning. She would later drive in pitcher Tisha Killian in the sixth inning. Killian went the distance on the mound for Maryland and struck out four batters. She improves to 14-8.
