CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- The University of Maryland softball team concluded its play at the Triangle Classic in Chapel Hill, N.C., defeating Rhode Island, 8-0, and UNC-Wilmington, 10-0, and losing to Georgia in the single-elimination game, 1-0. Both the Rhode Island game and the UNC-Wilmington game were called after five innings of play.

Junior pitcher Tisha Killian recorded the win over Rhode Island as she pitched a one-hitter. The Terps had 12 hits in the game, including a triple by junior pitcher/infielder Kelly Shipman. She was 2-for-3 on the day. Shipman was on the mound in the Terps' 10-0 win over UNC-Wilmington, recording 12 strikeouts and allowing only one hit. Junior Fawna Lackovic led the onslaught of scoring, going 2-for-3 at the plate with one double. Freshman Jen Potzman also had a homerun.

In the nightcap, Georgia scored its only run of the day on a Maryland error to give the Lady Bulldogs the win.

The Terps continue play this weekend when they travel to East Carolina for the Pirate Classic.
