She is an excellent all-around talent, with a great game sense, vocal leadership and competitive spirit. Alex is an anchor on the infield, while also giving us the option to utilize her as an outfielder."
As a Sophomore (2008): Saw action in all 59 games, with 57 starts, spending most of her time in the field playing shortstop ... raised her batting average by 36 points from her freshman season ... also set career highs in hits (34), doubles (six), triples (two) and RBIs (17) ... led the team with 14 hit by pitches ... had a team-best 106 assists in the field along with 77 putouts ... ranks first among returning players in stolen bases (10) and second among returnees in slugging percentage (.352), on-base percentage (.357), RBIs, home runs (two) and walks (13) ... totaled five multi-hit games, including a 3-for-3 performance with a double and a triple in a win over UMBC (March 16) ... notched a career-high three walks against Virginia Tech (March 30) ... ranks tied for fourth in school history in career hits by pitches (19) and tied for eighth in career triples (three).
As a Freshman (2007): Started 58 of 59 games for Maryland, primarily in centerfield and at second base ... her 30 runs were the best among returning players and her 31 hits were second only to Jenny Belak among returnees ... scored three runs in her second collegiate game, a 9-1 win over East Carolina (Feb. 16) ... recorded one double, one triple and scored two runs against Georgetown (March 28) ... scored two runs or more on five occasions ... recorded her first collegiate home run against Loyola Maramount (Feb. 24).
Before Maryland: Lettered three years at Pueblo West High School in Pueblo West, Colo. ... played on state championship softball teams in 2004 and 2005 ... captured honorable mention all-state and first team all-league honors during her career ... batted .428 and led the state in triples her senior season ... also played for the Colorado Quicksilver club team ... coached by Bob Zinanti ... also lettered four times in basketball and once in volleyball as a prep.
