On Putnam: Returns as Maryland's starting catcher … earned all-region honors in the NCAA Tournament as she batted .545 (six-for-11) in helping the Terps advance to within one game of the 1999 NCAA Softball World Series … in addition to her six hits, she recorded a double and one RBI as Maryland defeated Southwest Texas in the Terps' first-ever NCAA Tournament game … 28 total chances without an error in five games of the NCAA Tournament … tied for eighth all-time in games played (122) and ninth all-time with 115 career starting assignments … 10th place ranking in walks (27) … her fourth-inning double against Southwest Texas was the first ever extra base hit in the NCAA Tournament in program history.
As a Junior: Played in a career-high 45 games while starting a career-high 41 games … established career bests in batting average (.269), at-bats (108), runs (eight), hits (29), doubles (three), RBI (11) and led the Terps with a career-high .997 fielding percentage … career-high three hits came as Maryland defeated Ohio State, 12-3, on March 26 … recorded a career-high six multi-hit games … had more hits as a junior (29) than she had during her first two seasons combined (24) … also more doubles (three) as a junior than as a freshman and sophomore combined (zero) … doubles came against Tennessee-Martin on Feb. 26, Evansville on March 27, and Southwest Texas on May 20 in the NCAA Tournament … Maryland was 3-0 when Putnam had an extra base-hit … among Maryland's hottest hitters in the postseason with a .470 batting average (eight-for-17) in eight games … had two hits in Maryland's ACC Tournament victory over Georgia Tech on May 15 and two against Southwest Texas in the NCAA Tournament … singled during the sixth inning against Kansas in the second round of the NCAA Tournament to help lead Maryland to victory … though she was lifted for a pinch-runner (Holly Baldwin) after the hit, the winning run came as a direct result of her reaching base … achieved a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage on 46 total chances in the postseason … committed only one error during the regular season with a throwing error coming during the team's second game … finished the season with 272 consecutive chances without an error in 43 games … was also a perfect one-for-one in stolen bases to give her two for her career … stolen base as a junior came against South Carolina on Feb. 13 … credited with a career-high 14 walks as a junior … caught three of All-American Kelly Shipman's four no-hitters during the season … career high 16 putouts as Shipman no-hit La Salle on April 22 ... career-high six at-bats as Maryland defeated No. 22 South Florida, 3-1, on May 2 … scored two runs each against Tennessee-Martin and Ohio State on March 26 … career-high three RBI against North Carolina in game one of a doubleheader sweep in College Park on April 18 … marked the first time in school history that the Terps had swept the Tar Heels … two RBI in the first inning as the Terps took an insurmountable 5-0 lead and added an insurance RBI in the fifth inning to lead Maryland to the 9-3 victory … caught all 14 innings and limited the speedy Tar Heels to only one stolen base during the two games.
As a Sophomore: Appeared in 29 games while making 27 starts, mostly at the catcher position … drove in eight runs … had 10 hits and scored seven runs … led the Terps with a .996 fielding percentage as she made just one error in 236 total chances.
As a Freshman: Played in 48 games … hit .255 in 55 at-bats … scored five runs, had 14 hits and seven RBI … had one double … best performance came against Mercer on March 27 … had three hits, drove in two runs and scored one run … had one hit, scored one run and had one RBI against Virginia Tech on March 28 … knocked out two hits against Southwest Missouri on March 29.
Before Maryland: A four-time all-state selection at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy … also garnered all-conference honors all four years … an All-Tidewater first-team selection.
