On Madea: Among the Terps' top threats at the plate who will be a team leader again this season … earned NCAA Tournament Region 2 honors as the Terrapins played in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history in 1999 … her 55 hits as a junior ranks as her single-season career high and ties her for fourth among the best single-season efforts in Maryland history … recorded 33 RBI in both her sophomore and junior seasons which also ties the fourth best single-season campaign in school history … ranks fourth in school history with 163 games played and fourth in school history with 163 games started … ranks tied for second in home runs (10), second in sacrifice flies (three), second in triples (three), third in RBI (84), fourth in hits (126), fourth in at-bats (472), fifth in runs scored (53), fifth in doubles (19) and tied for fifth in sacrifice hits (13) … third-team Academic All-America by CoSIDA following her junior season … her 216 at bats as a junior ranks as the second highest single-season total in school history.
As a Junior: Enjoyed her best statistical season as she started all 74 games … totaled career highs for at-bats (216), runs (27), hits (55), doubles (nine), triples (two), home runs (six), walks (23) and tied her career high with 33 RBI … named to the NCAA Tournament All-Region 2 team as the Terps advanced to within one game of the Softball World Series … helped lead Maryland past No. 3 Arizona, 7-3, on May 22 in the third round of the NCAA Tournament as she hit her first career postseason home run in the seventh inning to boost the Terps to the greatest victory in school history … Maryland trailed 3-2 entering the top half of the last inning … after the Terps scored two runs to take a 4-3 lead, Madea hit a three-run home run to left field to put the Terps up by the winning margin … she had a career-high tying four RBI during the game which included an RBI single in the first inning against the Wildcats … recorded a career-high 16 multi-hit games … a single-game career-high of three hits came in two games … recorded three hits against Long Island on March 20 and Hofstra on April 7 … recorded a .300 batting average (six-for-20) in six games vs. ranked teams … enjoyed one of the greatest single days of her career on Feb. 14 as the Terps defeated Utah and Georgia in the Fiesta Bowl Classic at Arizona State … was four-for-seven (.571), with two home runs and four RBI in the pair of wins over the Utes and the Bulldogs … recorded a slugging percentage of 1.500 (11 total bases in seven at bats) … home runs during the season also came against UMBC (March 31 at home), Delaware (April 2 at home), and La Salle (April 22 at home) … multi-run games came four times and Maryland was 4-0 in those games … four RBI against Evansville on March 28 to help the Terps to the championship game of the Buzz Classic … was two-for-four, with one double and one RBI as Maryland defeated Georgia Tech in the ACC Tournament … recorded more runs as a junior (27) than she totaled as a freshman and sophomore (26).
As a Sophomore: Led the Terps with 33 RBI in 50 games which established the single-season school-record at the time … hit a career-best .297 as she totaled 11 extra base-hits … belted four home runs, six doubles and one triple during the season … hit her first career grand slam against Florida State on April 19 … named to the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
As a Freshman: All-ACC first-team selection … only league freshman to earn first-team all-league honors … played in 39 games and was used mostly as the designated player … hit .252 with 28 hits and 18 RBI … scored 14 runs … displayed power at the plate with four doubles … recorded six multi-hit games … posted a career-high three hits against Georgia Southern on March 29 … had two hits, two RBI and scored two runs against Towson on April 30 … career-high seven-game hitting streak … made 13 appearances on the mound and pitched two complete games … registered a season and career-high five strikeouts against Virginia Tech on March 15.
Before Maryland: A graduate of Northampton High School in 1997 … led Northampton to the 1996 PIAA 3A state championship title with a 22-1 overall record … hit a team-high .382 and recorded a 0.86 ERA as a senior … pitched nine career no-hitters and recorded more than 500 career strikeouts … named the 1996 Morning Call Pitcher of the Year … the 1996 Express Times Player of the Year … a two-time Mountain Valley first team all-star.
