On Bettker: Hard-working ace of the Terps’ pitching staff who earned first team NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region and ACC All-Tournament honors in 2001 … has moved into second place in nearly every Maryland career pitching category, including victories (43), ERA (1.73), innings pitched (489.2), strikeouts (393), shutouts (17), complete games (54) and appearances (91) … performances from 1999, 2000 and 2001 seasons also rank high among single-season leaders … touted as one of the top hurlers in the pitching-powerhouse Atlantic Coast Conference … a hard thrower that moves the ball around well … a proven competitor in pressure situations … has developed an excellent command of her pitches … the total package of athleticism, smarts and intensity.

As a Sophomore in 2000: Terps’ top starter with a team-leading 1.88 ERA … 14 wins and 119 strikeouts rank sixth-best in a single-season despite being hampered by a stress fracture in right forearm … paced the pitching staff in ERA, appearances (33), starts (30), complete games (21), innings pitched (194.0), and strikeouts (119) … fanned 13 in Maryland’s 8-1 rout of Morgan State … contributed four hitless innings to the Terps’ combined no-hit shutout of George Mason (April 20) … allowed three hits or less in 15 appearances and recorded two one-hit wins … began season on a career-high tying 4-0 tear, including shutout victories over South Florida (Feb. 4) (11 K’s) and Tennessee (Feb. 5) at the Louisville Slugger Tournament to garner all-tournament honors … also recorded shutouts against Kansas (Feb. 19) and Mercer (March 25) … turned in a 6-2 record during the Terps’ road trip from March 17 to 26 … notched a 1.62 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 10 appearances between the Florida State Invitational and Georgia Tech Buzz Classic … recorded two victories, 7-3 over Bethune-Cookman and 10-2 over Virginia Tech, in one day on March 17 at the Florida State Invitational … went the full 12 innings to hold on for an ACC/SASA 5-3 victory over Virginia (April 23) … named to the Scholar-Athlete Honor Roll for the 1999-2000 academic year.

As a Freshman in 1999: Ranked second on the team in wins (13), earned run average (2.31), shutouts (five) and strikeouts (109) in her first season on the squad … earned a complete-game shutout victory over Florida International (4-0) in her first career start (Feb. 5) … won her second career start, 9-0, as the Terps defeated Nicholls State (Feb. 6), allowing only two hits… struck out 13 batters against Tennessee-Martin (March 27) in the Buzz Classic in Atlanta … established a career-high four-game winning streak against UNC Charlotte (April 16), La Salle (April 22), George Mason (April 22) and Princeton (April 8) … pitched 23 total innings with 31 strikeouts (7.8 per game) in those outings and did not allow a run … allowed zero runs during seven consecutive outings from April 16 (UNC Charlotte) through May 20 (Southwest Texas in the NCAA Tournament) … made appearances against Southwest Texas and No. 3 Arizona in the NCAA Tournament … her only career at-bat came against Towson (April 3) and resulted in a sacrifice bunt … recorded a perfect fielding percentage (1.000) in 26 total chances during the season.
