Maryland Among National Leaders in Softball Statistics

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland softball team, who finished the year with a 26-23 overall record and a share of the Atlantic Coast Conference title, is ranked among the national leaders in the NCAA.

Sophomore pitcher Kelly Shipman is ranked third in walks with a 0.77 per game average. Her final ERA of 0.74 ranks her seventh, as does her strikeouts per seven innings (8.6 average).

The Terps as a team finished 19th in the nation in pitching with a combined ERA of 1.37.

Head coach Gina LaMandre was named Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year after guiding the Terps to their best finish in the ACC in the programis three-year history. It was her second such honor.
