Terps Women's Soccer Hosts Dartmouth and George Mason This Weekend

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Terrapin women's soccer team open a three-game homestand this weekend at Ludwig Field. The Terps take on the Big Green of Dartmouth on Friday, Sept. 14, at 7 p.m. before hosting regional rival George Mason on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 7 p.m. Tickets and Game Promotions Click here for a complete list of game promotions for this season. Event Multimedia The Maryland-Dartmouth game will be available on ACC Select, the web broadcasting service of the Atlantic Coast Conference, approximately two hours following the conclusion of the match. Fans can view the action by logging on to accselect.com. Individual games are available for $3.99 per event or unlimited events can be accessed for a $5.99 monthly subscription fee. Did you know ... the last time Maryland played Dartmouth and George Mason each game ended with a score of 1-0? Scouting The Big Green Dartmouth opened its season with a pair of shutout losses to Texas A&M and Rice at the A&M Tournament. The Big Green then picked up a 1-0 win over Cal Poly before losing to Minnesota 4-0. Sophomore Maggie Goldstein has both of Dartmouth's goals.
Did you know ... Maryland is 6-5-1 all-time against Ivy League schools? Scouting The Patriots After opening the season with a 2-0 loss to Rider, the Patriots have won three straight matches. GMU defeated Harvard 2-1 before shutting out Stony Brook, 3-0, and George Washington, 1-0. Senior midfielder L.J. Williams and sophomore forward Annie Lebherz lead Mason with two goals apiece. Senior Kasst Davenport has played all 360 minutes in net, allowing only three goals. Did you know ... Kelly Rozumalski scored the lone goal in Maryland's 1-0 win over Mason last season? Playing Overtime Maryland played five overtime games last season, going 0-1-4 in those matches. All four ties ended in 0-0 finishes, tying the 2006 Michigan Wolverines for the most 0-0 ties in a season in NCAA history. During the past four seasons, Maryland has played 22 overtime games with a record of 3-6-13 in those games. So far this season, the Terps have played two overtime matches, going 0-1-1. Offensive Defense Take A Shot Impact Freshmen Goalkeeper Yewande Balogun logged all 383 minutes for the Terps in their first four games and has a 0.70 GAA with two shutouts to her credit. Mallory Baker and Caitlin McDowell each picked up their first collegiate assists in the 2-1 win over Fairleigh Dickinson. Baker started each of the first two games for Maryland, while McDowell earned the start vs. FDU. Kylie Ricker earned her first collegiate start against Loyola Marymount at the Hoosier Classic on Sept. 9, and responded with the first goal of her career. Pells To Participate In Two National-Level Events By U.S. Soccer U.S. Soccer's Coaching Department will host the second annual Women's Nike Friendlies Coaching Symposium in conjunction with the 2007 Women's Nike Friendlies from Sept. 20-23 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. The symposium includes nightly presentations on Sept. 20 and 21, as well as a match analysis on Sept. 22 at The Home Depot Center. The Nike Friendlies is a high profile tournament featuring some of the top U15-U17 club teams in the country, as well as several of the girls U.S. National Teams. The event is scheduled from September 20-23. Pells will be working directly with the goalkeepers at this event. This is the second stint for Pells with the U.S. youth national team program, as she was the goalkeeper coach for the U14 girls national team in the summer of 2006. Playing The Best The Terps take on seven teams ranked in this weeks NSCAA poll. The Terps play No. 2 North Carolina (Oct. 7), No. 8 Boston College (Nov. 1), No. 10 Virginia (Oct. 25), No. 13 Florida State (Oct. 11), No. 17 Clemson (Sept. 27), and No. 24 USC (L, 2-1 OT). Maryland also hosts Wake Forest (Oct. 5), which was ranked previously and received votes this week.
