COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland Terrapins-Washington Freedom women's soccer exhibition held last Friday at Ludwig Field raised $1,000 to benefit Kicks Against Breast Cancer and the Claudia Mayer Foundation.

Maryland donated a portion of the events receipts to the cause.

"It means a lot for our players and the University to contribute to such a wonderful cause," said head coach Shannon Higgins-Cirovski. "Anything we can do to help, makes us feel great and playing soccer to help benefit breast cancer research makes it a total win-win sitaution."

The Freedom defeated the Terps, but Maryland held its own against some of the world's top players including Freedom star Mia Hamm.
