Terps Fall to Wake Forest on Last-Second Goal

ORLANDO, Fla. - Anne Shropshire scored with five seconds remaining to lead No. 14 Wake Forest past Maryland, 2-1, in the quarterfinal round of the Atlantic Coast Conference women's soccer tournament at Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex. The victory sends the Demon Deacons into a semifinal match-up with No. 1 ranked North Carolina and ends Maryland's hopes of its first ever ACC Tournament championship. Maryland's record is now 10-10-1 overall. Wake Forest's record is now 13-5-1. The NCAA Tournament pairings are announced Sunday night. Shropshire took a pass from Stefanie Matthews and came in on a breakaway toward the Maryland net. Shropshire took a pass from Matthews and delivered the game-winning goal at the 89:55 mark. It was Shropshire who scored the game-winning goal against Maryland on October 25 in a 3-2 Deacon win. Maryland's Ali Wolff was credited with three saves while Wake goalie Sari Rose recorded two stops. No. 5 Maryland 1 0 - 1 (record now 10-10-1) No. 4 Wake Forest 0 2 - 2 (record now 13-5-1)
