Women's Soccer Defeats Colorado, 5-0

BOULDER, Colo. - Senior forward Keri Sarver scored three goals and sophomore goalkeeper Ali Wolff gained her first shutout of the season as Maryland defeated Colorado, 5-0, in the second round of the University of Colorado Invitational at Pleasant View Soccer Complex this afternoon. The three-goal hat trick marked the fourth of Sarver's career and tied the school record for goals in a single game. Maryland improves to 6-3-0 with the victory while Colorado falls to 2-5-1. The victory was the fifth consecutive for the Terps who have outscored their opponent 20-4 since Sept. 18. Sarver scored one first half goal and two in the second half. Her first came at the 35:47 mark when she knocked in a loose ball in the Colorado backfield and beat Buffalo goalkeeper Sloane Cox to make the score 3-0. She added goals at the 53:32 and 57:10 marks to give the Terps their final margin of victory. Junior midfielder Jackie Mynarski scored her third goal of the year at the 12:54 mark on a deflection of a corner kick by senior midfielder Robin McCullough. The goal turned out to be Mynarski's second game-winning goal of the season. Junior midfielder Emily Janss added her second goal of the season on a penalty kick at the 21:13 mark. Sophomore goalkeeper Ali Wolff recorded six saves and gained her first shutout of the season. The shutout was the sixth of her career and moved her into a tie for fourth place all-time in the Maryland record book. Maryland plays host to No. 5 Florida Friday night at 7 p.m. at Ludwig Field.
