Terps Tie Clemson 0-0 In ACC Opener
Sept. 22, 2005
Clemson, S.C. - In a closely fought contest, the University of Maryland women's soccer team opened its ACC schedule with a 0-0 tie at Clemson Thursday night.
"We saw the fight that our players have in them tonight and I'm proud of that," said Terrapin head coach Brian Pensky. "Our team defending was good tonight and, at times, we found a real good rhythm in the attack. We just need to find a way to finish the job."
Junior goalkeeper Nikki Resnick, who was making just her second appearance since leaving the Villanova game with an injured leg, made nine saves to preserve the tie for the Terps. The nine saves marked Resnick's second-highest single-game total of the season, falling two shy of the career-best 11 saves she made at Notre Dame on September 4.
The Terps continue their ACC schedule with a pair of games vs. top 10 teams at Ludwig Field next weekend. Maryland hosts No. 8 Wake Forest at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30, before welcoming No. 1 North Carolina to College Park on Sunday, October 1 for a 2:00 p.m. tilt.
