Head Coach Jonathan Morgan: "As has been the case here the last few years, we’ve had to replace an incredible group of seniors who’ve made an incredible impression on our program. As we continue to define our culture and who we want to be, it has become increasingly more clear to our staff the value in finding players with the right character and mentality. All five of these student-athletes fit the Maryland mold. They are terrific in the classroom, motivated to be great players, and quality people.

"Every year we want to bring in student-athletes we think can enhance our team’s performance. This group addresses all of our needs for 2013-14. Each player possesses the athleticism, technique, and versatility to perform at a very high level."

Chose Maryland Over: UCLA, Texas and Miami

I chose Maryland because: "I felt at home when I took my visits to Maryland. I realized it was my dream school in terms of academics, atmosphere and athletically. The team is amazing and capable of winning a National Championship and that’s one of my goals while in college."

Coach Morgan on Anthony: "Alex might be one of the most competitive kids I’ve ever come across. She loves to win and she loves to score goals! Alex always knows the score. One of the ECNL’s leading goal scorers, Alex possesses the tools to score in a variety of ways. I’ve seen her score from distance, out of the air (headers and volleys), and off the dribble. Some of the goals she’s been able to score in club have been the most amazing goals I’ve ever seen from a youth player. We can’t wait to get her on campus."

Coach Morgan on Berman: "Lauren will be one of the most polished players technically to arrive in College Park. She has a variety of tools to her game. She is very smooth and composed when she is confronted with pressure. Lauren takes a lot of pride in her development as a player. I love the fact every time I see her compete she has added something new to her repertoire. Lauren will compete on Day One for a starting position in our midfield. "

I chose Maryland because: "Maryland was always my dream school. The soccer is very strong and the academics are exceptional. It also gives me the chance to play close to home."

Coach Morgan on Gouterman: "Hope was first brought to our attention by her club coach Adam Ritchie. She is a local player we first saw play at our residential camp and then again at our ID camp. This kid is going to be a surprise for many. She has a tremendous love for the game and you can see her passion every time she plays. She is super competitive and wants to be great! Hope is a versatile player and I could see her in either the midfield or back line for us. There’s always a hidden gem in each class and I wouldn’t doubt if Hope is ours. I chose Maryland because: "I wanted a school where I would be able to excell academically and as a soccer player. I heard so many nice things about Maryland as a school and as a team. I’m very excited to be here."

Coach Morgan on Knudsen: "Maren comes to us via Norway. Her club and international experience is going to be a welcomed addition to our program. She has pace, size, technique, and most importantly a professional mentality in everything she does. Maren is a natural centerback, but recently for her club she has been playing in the midfield. I expect Maren to have an impact sooner rather than later for our group. We are fortunate she applied early and arrived to school this semester. We’ll have a better understanding at the end of April where she’ll best fit in for the team."

I chose Maryland because: "Maryland has a great combination of competitive soccer and challenging academics. The coaching staff made me feel really welcomed. It was one of the first schools I visited, and I fell in love with the campus."

Coach Morgan on Ntone-Kouo: "Natasha comes to us from the PDA in New Jersey and is another ultra competitor. I expect Natasha to play in either the midfield or up front for us. Natasha is special in that she can spin defenders with her back to pressure, but she is so explosive and dynamic she can receive a ball faced up and run past defenders. She can be a nightmare for defenders! In addition, she has really developed her crossing of the ball. Natasha is going to create some great scoring opportunities for our team. Expect a big contribution right away!"
