COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The University of Maryland's track and field head coach, Bill Goodman, has been named the ACC Women's Indoor Track Coach of the Year following a vote by the nine ACC head coaches taken after the ACC Indoor Championships.

The honor is the first ACC Coach of the Year award for Goodman. He led the women's team to a third-place ACC finish, its best in 12 years and tied for its best ever.

Maryland boasted one of its best recruiting classes in school history this season, helping propel the team to the strong ACC showing. Maryland ended the season in 14th place in the National Dual Meet Power Rankings, compiled by Idaho State University. The team has ranked as high as number one in the rankings.

Goodman took over as the head coach of the Maryland teams in 1988. During his tenure as the head coach and as an assistant (1976-83), Goodman has coached 14 All-Americans, 30 ACC Champions, and 37 All-ACC performers.
