COLLEGE PARK, Md. - For the first time since the 1970s, the University of Maryland men's and women's track teams will host an indoor competition on Jan. 7 beginning at 9 a.m.

The Terps will welcome Delaware State, Georgetown, Howard, Johns Hopkins, Navy, UMBC, Virginia and Western Maryland to the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover, Md. Sunday for the first time since meets were held at Cole Field House a quarter century ago.

The meet will be the Terps' second of the season. On Dec. 2, the teams competed at the Bucknell Invitational. Leading the way for Maryland women at Bucknell: Sophomore Tia Burley (Baltimore, Md.) won the 500 meters with a time of 1:15.25, junior Amber Stanley (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) placed first in the 55 hurdles with a time of 8.27, senior Vanessa Jones (Olney, Md.) took first in the high jump with a leap of 5-8, junior Ruth Kura (Potomac, Md.) won the weight throw with a toss of 53-8 ½, junior Tracy Ojeniyi (Sewell, N.J.) finished first in the shot put, the 4x400 relay team won with a time of 3:43.42.

Leading the way for the men's team in the first meet of the season: Junior Dontae Bugg (Newport News, Va.) won the 55 hurdles with a time of 7.62, junior Dave Benaderet took first in the 500 with a time of 1:05.81, freshman Thomas Anderson (Gaithersburg, Md.) finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:00.56, junior Phillip Barrett, Jr. (Upper Marlboro, Md.) placed second in the 55 hurdles with a time of 7.66, sophomore John Collins (Clarksburg, Md.) and junior James Gondak (Doylestown, Pa.) finished 2-3 in the weight throw, the distance medley relay finished third with a time of 10:49.27.

The meet begins a stretch that will see the Terps compete in five meets over the next month, followed by a week off and the ACC Championships on Feb. 16-17.
