World Cup Influence
Many Terps have proudly represented their country while competing in the Federation of International Lacrosse World Cup. Most recently, Caitlyn McFadden and Acacia Walker helped guide the United States to the 2009 World Cup title in Prague. The U.S. defeated an Australian team dominated by current and former Terps, including Jen Adams and Sarah Mollison. Needless to say, when there is an international lacrosse competition, chances are there will be an abundance of Maryland’s best and brightest players from around the globe. Currently, senior Katie Schwarzmann and sophomore Kelly McPartland, in addition to assistant coach Caitlyn McFadden, are on the U.S. women’s national team training roster. The Terps are the only program to have two current players on the team and McPartland is the youngest player on the squad. For a complete list of Maryland’s national team players, click here. |
